ENTREVOUS
INDOOR BENCH
The Entrevous furniture is the result of a week-long workshop in collaboration with Hugo Larroche from Collectif De Boue, which specializes in raw earth construction. In architecture, an “entrevous” is an element designed to support a floor, which is resting at its ends on structural beams.
This construction principle, known as a vaulted floor slab, is applied here on a furniture scale and provided an opportunity to explore a possible relationship between bamboo and rammed earth. Here, the seat structure is composed entirely of bamboo culm assembled with dowels, and the seat itself is made of compressed earth. The process is therefore entirely reversible.

The architectural principle of vaulted floor slab developed by Terrabloc with raw earth vaults.
In order to test the mechanical strength of the construction principles used here, up to 210 kg was applied to the entire bench and up to 70 kg to the central point of a single vault.
